Low-Profile Ceiling Lights

Low-profile ceiling lights draw the eye upward and highlight higher elements in a space, like crown molding or unique architecture. Low-profile light fixtures are comprised of flush-mounted lighting and semi-flush-mounted fixtures. These lights provide overall illumination when a larger wash is needed versus focused spotlighting.

Flush ceiling lights are the best option for areas with low-hanging ceilings, including most hallways and bedrooms. In entryways and smaller foyer areas where a large pendant or chandelier is too big, a semi-flush light fixture provides ample lighting for guests entering the home. A low-profile LED light provides ample illumination while remaining efficient. A low-profile fixture in the bathroom can complement existing lighting from bath bars, wall sconces or natural light. Consider a low-profile ceiling fan or low-profile chandelier as an option for the room as well to add style or airflow.

How to Choose the Best Low Ceiling Lighting

For commercial ceiling lights or home lighting, review its dimensions to properly gauge its height, width, mounted length (for semi-flush options), weight, and mounting options. The shape of the light will be determined by its application and where it is installed. For instance, elongated, rectangular fixtures work well for hallways. The color is also important; assess the decor already present and decide if the low-profile light will blend in or stand out. Replacing an existing flush ceiling light can sometimes use the wiring already in place. For new installs, double check the wiring is compatible with the new close-to-ceiling light.
