The Makers: Philippe Starck
A longtime collaborator with Kartell, Philippe Starck is a world-renowned figure in modern design. Starck has designed hundreds of furniture pieces and accessories with a whos who of global design brands. Some of his most iconic designs have been for Kartell, including the Louis Ghost chair—using the brand’s innovative technology to render a dining chair with a traditional silhouette into a slick translucent ultra-modern object—the unmistakable Masters Chair, and most recently, the A.I. Side Chair that Starck and Kartell collaborated on using Artificial Technology.

Componibili
Designed by Kartell co-founder Anna Castelli Ferrieri, the Componibili storage collection made its debut at Salone de Mobile in 1967. The first modular plastic furniture of its kind, Ferrieri set out to create an innovative design that would be both beautiful and functional—and now more than a half century later, the icon can be found in the permanent collections of New York’s MoMA and Paris’ Centre Pompidou, and in homes and offices around the world.
